DeVeDe - Free Open Source Video to DVD Converter
DeVeDe is a free open-source video to DVD converter. It allows you to burn and convert any video format to a DVD image. The software is compatible with Windows and Linux.
This application has been developed by Sergi Costas Rodriguez. He wrote the software in Python3 and rewrote a lot of the code to make it more compatible with modern systems.
With a simple and user-friendly interface, you can preview videos and burn them to a disk. There are no ads or watermarks. However, the program may perform a bit slowly.
First, you need to select your output format. The default setting is DVD. You can choose between a number of other formats, such as SVCD and China VideoDisc. If you prefer, you can also add subtitles. Subtitles are useful for foreign language movies.
Once you have chosen a format and set the default file size, you can start converting your videos. If you are planning to convert MPEG2-PS video to a DivX format, you will not only lose quality, but you will also reduce the overall size of the resulting image.
When you are done, you can click on the "Burn Image" button to create a DVD disc. The program will ask you to choose a folder to store the output image. Defaults are to the "movie" directory in your home directory.
Once you have selected a folder and video to be converted, DeVeDe will begin the process. Next, you can customize the menu. You can choose background music or an image to be used for the menu.
